I alway say, "no one succeeds alone... sometimes you need a boost."

Given the rollercoaster ride that 2020 has been, I'll modify that a bit and say, "no one succeeds alone... especially now."

If 2020 has taught me anything it's that, WE NEED EACH OTHER: Connection Matters. I'm not talking about on a "grow your network" level. But, instead, on a fundamental, necessity of life level.

We need joy, we need laughter, we need inspiration, we need support, we need connection.

So, at this year's SUPERCHARGED Summit, we're going to celebrate.

Celebrate that even though it's been a rough year, there is always something to be thankful for. Celebrate that 2020 is almost over, and there's always the possibility of a better tomorrow. Celebrate that we can still come together, even if it looks and feels a little bit different.

The quality of your life can be directly correlated to your mindset. But, equally as important is who you share and connect with along the way. Can't wait to connect with you!

Dr. Meta DuEwa Jones

Meta earned her Ph.D from Stanford University. She is a researcher, grant writer, creative scholar, poet, and professor. Meta believes writing and teaching transforms lives. She currently researches and teaches courses focused on African American literature, music, visual art and graphic novels in the Department of English and Comparative Literature at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Meta has published poems, essays and articles in numerous national publications. She has received prestigious fellowships from the National Humanities Center, the Schlesinger Library at Harvard University, the Moorland-Spingarn Research Center at Howard University, the Rockefeller, Woodrow Wilson, and Mellon Foundations, the Stanford Humanities Center and the Carter G. Woodson Institute at the University of Virginia.

Meta's first book, The Muse is Music, was recognized by the MLA William Sanders Scarborough Prize. Her upcoming book, Black Alchemy, explores how writers and visual artists remember their experiences living or traveling throughout Africa, the Caribbean and the Americas. Suzanne Elise Walsh

Suzanne Walsh is the 19th President of Bennett College, one of two historically black colleges for women in the United States. Prior to that role, she served as the deputy director for postsecondary success with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Suzanne’s previous work also includes service at two other prominent foundations: Lumina Foundation in Indianapolis and The Heinz Endowments in Pittsburgh. She is civically active as a number of non-profit boards including Trellis Foundation, Carey Institute for Global Good, the Harwood Institute, Global Learning Council and the advisory board for Roadtrip Nation. She is also a proud judge for Dance Your PhD.

Suzanne has an honorary doctorate from Johnson C. Smith University and Case Western Reserve University. She also earned a juris doctorate and master’s in social work from Case Western Reserve University, a bachelor’s degree from Cornell University, and an associate’s degree in applied science from Hudson Valley Community College.
